Famundo Outlook Client Error

Avatar ICE 6 post(s)

Hello -

Having the following sync issue when attempting to sync 2-way, just calendar using Outlook 2007.

FAMUNDO OUTLOOK CLIENT ERROR (dialog window title)
“Can’t access the server. Check your network connectivity and your account’s server location.”

Settings are correct for server: http://sync.famundo.com/funambol/ds
Also, pinged http://sync.famund.com from my connection and response is OK.
I just signed up and started my account about 2 hours before attempting to sync.

The following Debugging Log is what results:

Hi,

It’s some network issue on your side. Could be the Windows Firewall. If you point your browser to this address http://sync.famundo.com/funambol/ds ? Do you see the page?

Regards,
Cosmin

Avatar ICE 6 post(s)

Cosmin,

Thank you. I dropped the firewall on my PC (Zone Alarm) and it appeared to be able to communicate with the server. However, I am getting a different message now. Please see. Thank you for your support. I’m looking forward to connecting soon!

“Can’t Access your account. Correct your server location, username, and password.”

Also, when trying to click on the above link, I do not get a website. Just a blank page. Should I be seeing something? Here is the debug report I received just now. Thanks, Cosmin!

Cosmin,

Actually – everything’s working now!

After lowering the firewall as you suggested, I just had to reenter my id, password, and server name, and the plug-in re-connected and all was great! I’ve synced up and the outlook synchronization works awesome! Thanks so much for your quick and accurate support!

I look forward to the benefits of FAMUNDO.COM!

Cosmin,

For the future, if I needed to keep my firewall up, what suggestions can you offer to allow the firewall to allow the plug-in to communicate properly with the server. I have already entered a trusted address of: http://sync.famundo.com, but the firewall still prevents the plug-in from communicating properly. Of course, when I completely drop the firewall, the plug-in works fine.

But, any suggestions on any of the other FAMUNDO IP addresses or ports that I can try to add to my trusted zone of my firewall so I can keep the firewall up, but just open the necessary IPs or ports?

Thanks, Cosmin.
J.

Hi,
I tested with ZoneAlarm turned on and didn’t have issues (I’m using their latest version). One thing that you could do is increase the ‘Trust level’ for the Famundo Outlook Sync’ (should be somewhere in the Program Control/Programs area. So if you give as many rights you can to the plugin you should not need to disable your firewall.
Let us know if you need further help with this.

Regards,
Cosmin

Cosmin,

Thanks for your response. However, I could not find “Famundo Outlook Sync” on my program list in Zone Alarm. Is the program called something else perhaps?

J

Avatar Cosmin Famundo Staff 149 post(s)

Hi,

I think it displays only the running processes. So launch the sync plugin and while letting that run look again in the Programs list (at least this is how it looks in my version).
